✨ Meet the Team | Aaron ✨
At Orion GxP Consulting, our people are at the heart of everything we do — and we’re delighted to spotlight Aaron, one of our Manager / Consultant Responsible Person and Trainee QP.
With experience across pharmaceuticals, healthcare logistics, and scientific services, Aaron brings a practical, risk-based approach to quality and regulatory compliance. From supporting virtual wholesalers through HPRA inspections to helping clients strengthen their Quality Management Systems, his focus is always on delivering compliant, regulator-ready solutions that genuinely work in practice.
What really sets Aaron apart is his ability to balance regulatory expectations with operational realities — guiding clients with clarity, confidence, and calm, even under tight timelines and patient-critical pressures.
What first inspired you to pursue a career in pharmaceutical quality and regulatory compliance?
Living and working in Ireland played a significant role in inspiring my career path. Being immersed in a country with such a strong and well-established pharmaceutical industry made me acutely aware of the critical role that quality and regulatory compliance play in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and reliable medicines. Seeing the impact of robust compliance frameworks in practice motivated me to pursue a career where I could directly contribute to maintaining those standards.
You’ve worked across several sectors, how have these diverse environments shaped your approach to quality assurance?
Working across pharmaceuticals, healthcare logistics, and scientific services has given me a broad and adaptable approach to quality assurance. Each environment reinforced the importance of robust quality systems, strong governance, and clear communication, while also highlighting the need for a pragmatic, risk-based mindset. These experiences strengthened my problem-solving skills and often required me to think creatively to deliver compliant, practical solutions in fast-paced and sometimes challenging circumstances.

Which role or project in your career so far has had the biggest impact on your professional development, and why?
Leading HPRA inspections for virtual wholesalers was one of the most impactful experiences in my professional development. It significantly deepened my understanding of GDP compliance and regulatory expectations, while also strengthening my leadership and stakeholder management skills. Managing inspections end-to-end required careful preparation, confident communication with inspectors, and the ability to guide clients calmly and effectively through the process.
Moving from lab work to quality leadership is a big shift — what motivated that transition and what skills carried over?
I was motivated to move into quality leadership by the opportunity to influence systems and outcomes on a broader scale. The analytical thinking, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving skills I developed in the laboratory transferred seamlessly into quality systems, compliance oversight, and risk assessment. Those foundations continue to support my work in building and maintaining robust, regulator-ready quality frameworks.
You’ve supported both start-up environments and established operations, what do you see as the biggest difference in their quality needs?
Start-ups often require quality frameworks to be built from the ground up, including establishing a strong quality culture, defining processes, and embedding compliance from an early stage. In contrast, established organisations tend to focus on optimisation, scalability, and continuous improvement of existing systems. While both require agility, start-ups demand creativity and flexibility to design fit-for-purpose processes, whereas established companies require refinement and efficiency to enhance mature quality systems.

What drew you to join Orion GxP Consulting, and what excites you most about your current role?
I was drawn to Orion GxP Consulting by the opportunity to work with a diverse client base and to play a hands-on role in strengthening compliance and quality systems across the industry. The collaborative culture at Orion, combined with its reputation for delivering practical, regulator-focused solutions, really resonated with me. What excites me most is the variety of projects and the ability to make a tangible impact for clients.
As an RP and Trainee QP, what responsibilities do you find most rewarding or challenging?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is guiding clients through inspections and seeing their confidence grow as they become more inspection-ready. Balancing regulatory expectations with operational realities can be challenging, but it is also one of the most valuable parts of the role. Finding pragmatic solutions that maintain compliance while supporting business continuity is something I find particularly fulfilling.
What do you enjoy most about supporting virtual wholesalers, logistics providers, and pharmaceutical companies?
The variety of clients keeps my work engaging and dynamic. Each organisation has its own challenges, operational models, and regulatory pressures, which makes problem-solving both interesting and rewarding. I enjoy tailoring solutions to each client’s specific needs and helping them navigate regulatory requirements with confidence.

Can you share an example of how you’ve helped a client strengthen their QMS or prepare for an inspection?
I recently supported a client seeking to procure and supply medicines under a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (WDA). The project involved a comprehensive review of their SOPs for GDP compliance, updating procedures where required, and ensuring robust supplier and customer qualification processes were in place. The client also had an urgent patient need, which added significant time pressure. Through close collaboration and detailed preparation, we successfully guided them through the HPRA inspection and secured their WDA with no major or critical findings.
Continuous improvement is central to your work, how do you stay up to date with evolving HPRA and EU GDP requirements?
I stay up to date through continuous professional training, monitoring regulatory updates, and engaging with guidance issued by the HPRA and EU authorities. I also benefit greatly from mentorship and peer discussions, as well as regularly attending industry webinars and reviewing updated guidance documents to ensure my knowledge remains current and practical.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the pharmaceutical world to unwind or recharge?
I’m passionate about health and wellness, so I spend a lot of time at the gym and enjoy activities that help me recharge both physically and mentally. One of my favourite routines is cold sea dips followed by a hot sauna — it’s a great way to reset, boost energy, and maintain balance outside of work.
Your background spans biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and agri science — does any of this influence your interests or hobbies today?
Absolutely. My academic background continues to influence my interests and hobbies. I enjoy experimenting with healthy recipes and fitness routines informed by nutritional science, and I’m particularly passionate about sustainability initiatives. My understanding of agricultural and environmental science has encouraged me to support projects focused on reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices.
